Letter to Major General Lincoln, 1787 January 25.

Letter to Major General Lincoln informing him that the advice of the Council, a copy of which is at the top of the letter, is to be followed in regard to repressing the [Shay's] rebellion. The advice of the Council, dated 1787 January 24, gives to General Lincoln the authority to "apprehend, disarm, and secure by all fitting ways and means all persons" involved in the rebellion.
